This is rather a nice variation of the ordinary cable stitch, being less bold and somewhat lighter in texture, and therefore quite suitable for small garments, rather than heavy sports wear. the stitches are not properly crossed over, but convey that impression...
I love a good mock cable! Unfortunately the kicking sack that uses it is still waiting to be cast off - and is now too small for G!

Glad you're enjoying it, hopefully I won't get too distracted by the hooked rag rug I started today and get the cushion finished. Maybe the kicking sack could become a cushion or a pyjama bag?
